Installing a VPN in Russia is simpler than most people expect. The entire process takes about 2 minutes regardless of your device. Here's the overview:

Step 1: Choose Your Device
VnePN works on all major platforms. The setup process is slightly different for each, but equally simple. Here's what you'll need:
Android: Works on Android 7.0 and above. Most Android phones from 2017 onward are compatible. You'll use the Hiddify app, available on Google Play or as a direct APK download.
iPhone/iPad: Requires iOS 15 or later. The Streisand app from the App Store handles the connection. No jailbreak needed, no special profiles to install.
Windows: Windows 10 or 11. The Hiddify desktop client or v2rayN app handles everything. Download, install, paste your link — done.
macOS: macOS 12 (Monterey) or later. Streisand or Hiddify for Mac. Same simple process as other platforms.
Linux: Hiddify has a Linux client. Also works with command-line tools like sing-box for advanced users who prefer terminal-based setup.
Step 2: Download the VPN Client

Why open-source clients? Two reasons. First, transparency: anyone can inspect the code to verify it does exactly what it claims. Second, resilience: if one download source is restricted, the same app is available from GitHub, F-Droid, or direct download.
Installation is standard — download, open, and follow the prompts. No special permissions are needed beyond the standard VPN permission that every VPN app requires.
Step 3: Get Your VnePN Connection Link
Create an account at vnepn.top. Registration is minimal — you don't need to provide payment details for the 7-day free trial. No credit card required.
Once registered, you'll receive a connection link (it looks like a URL starting with vless://). This link contains all the configuration your VPN client needs: server address, encryption settings, Reality parameters — everything packaged into a single string.
You can copy this link on your phone or computer. If you're setting up on a different device, you can also scan a QR code from the VnePN dashboard — particularly convenient for setting up a phone from a computer.
One link works for one device at a time. If you have multiple devices, your VnePN account provides separate links for each. Smart routing is included by default — you don't need to configure it separately.
Step 4: Connect
Open your VPN client app. Look for an option to add a new server or profile — usually a "+" button or "Add" option. Paste your VnePN connection link. The app will parse it and create a connection profile automatically.
Tap "Connect" and wait a few seconds. Once connected, you'll see a VPN icon in your status bar (a key icon on Android, "VPN" label on iOS, a lock icon on desktop).
Verify it's working: visit any international website. If it loads normally, you're connected. For extra confirmation, visit a site like whatismyipaddress.com — you'll see a non-Russian IP address for international traffic.
Smart routing means Russian websites still connect directly, so don't be surprised if Yandex or VK show your regular Russian IP — that's by design and means your local services stay fast.
Troubleshooting Quick Fixes
If the connection doesn't work on the first try, here are the most common solutions:
App won't connect: Make sure your internet connection is working without VPN first. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data. Restart the VPN app.
"Permission denied" errors: On Android, the system may prompt you to allow VPN connections — tap "Allow". On iOS, you may need to go to Settings → VPN and toggle the profile on. On Windows, run the app as administrator on first launch.
Connection drops immediately: Check that you pasted the complete connection link. Partial links won't work. Try copying and pasting again, making sure you get the entire string.
